Our Executives

Killian Vendler | Founder
ISA Certified Arborist #WE-14059A, RCA #889 PCA #147436, QAL #151925
Killian Vendler is the Founder of California Ecology Arborists, bringing a specialized background in arboriculture, plant science, and large-scale nursery operations to his consulting practice. With experience spanning tree health diagnostics, pest management, construction-related tree impacts, and expert reporting, Killian focuses on delivering clear, defensible solutions to complex tree and landscape issues for homeowners, developers, and legal professionals.
Raised with a strong connection to plant systems and the built environment, Killian developed an early interest in how trees interact with soil conditions, infrastructure, and long-term land use. That foundation evolved into a disciplined, field-driven approach to arboriculture, where practical observation is paired with technical analysis to inform sound decision-making.
Killian earned a B.S. in Agriculture and Environmental Plant Science from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where he built a strong academic foundation in plant physiology, soil science, and insect ecology. During his time there, he worked at the university arboretum, gaining hands-on experience in plant cultivation and nursery production, including large-scale poinsettia and Christmas tree operations distributed throughout the state. He was also recognized academically with multiple Dean’s List honors and a scholarship in insect ecology, and competed as a Division I wrestler on a full athletic scholarship, an experience that continues to shape his disciplined, performance-driven approach.
Following graduation, Killian managed operations at Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery, one of the largest wholesale nurseries on the West Coast. There, he played a key role in establishing a new location, overseeing pesticide compliance as a Qualified Applicator, and managing inventory, logistics, and a team of over 25 employees. His work involved high-volume plant distribution and operational scaling, providing a strong foundation in both the technical and business aspects of the industry.
He is an ISA Certified Arborist, licensed Pest Control Advisor, and Registered Consulting Arborist (RCA). Killian founded California Ecology Arborists in 2022, building the firm around a consulting-focused model that emphasizes technical accuracy, practical solutions, and clear communication. His work is driven by a commitment to helping clients navigate complex environmental, regulatory, and structural challenges involving trees, while elevating the standard of arboricultural consulting.

Jacob Goldin | Director of Business Operations
Jacob Goldin brings a versatile background in business strategy, client development, and operational leadership to CalEco Arborists. With over six years of experience in consulting, private equity research, and behavioral health operations, Jacob has a proven track record of driving sustainable growth through data-driven strategy and stakeholder engagement.
Raised in Los Angeles but shaped by summers spent on a small island off the coast of Maine, Jacob developed an early and lasting appreciation for rural landscapes and natural environments. A lifelong outdoorsman, he credits those formative experiences with instilling in him the belief that the way we care for trees, land, and open space is deeply tied to community health and resilience.
Jacob earned his B.A. in Philosophy from UCLA, graduating magna cum laude with a focus on logic, ethics, and critical thinking. His academic foundation reflects a broader passion for sustainability and systems thinking, an outlook he brings to every aspect of his work.
At CalEco Arborists, Jacob supports operations, outreach, and organizational strategy to connect expert arboricultural services with the communities and legal professionals who need them most. He is especially passionate about raising ecological awareness in urban environments and helping others recognize the value of trees, not only as natural assets, but as essential infrastructure. Through his role, Jacob seeks to bridge the gap between science, strategy, and stewardship

Brian Chang | Marketing and Outreach Coordinator
Brian Chang’s journey is grounded in both academic insight and lived experience. He holds degrees in Sociology and Marketing, earning his Marketing degree from James Cook University Singapore with additional credits and a storytelling credential from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. This foundation in social understanding, strategy, and narrative skill allows him to craft content and outreach strategies that connect communities, ideas, and audiences in meaningful ways.
His connection to the natural world has been equally formative. From reforesting degraded lands in Costa Rica to hands-on efforts to repopulate leatherback sea turtles, Brian’s conservation work reflects a lifelong commitment to protecting people, wildlife, and the environments we share. While living in Malaysia’s ancient jungles for 3 years and spending time in Melbourne, he gained insight that deepened his appreciation for biodiversity, natural beauty, and sustainable living.
Beyond conservation, Brian has supported community welfare initiatives in Singapore, assisting underserved populations, including the elderly and economically disadvantaged. He also has professional experience as an optician, where he cultivated precision and client care.
At CalEco Arborists, Brian applies his combined background to ensure the company’s messaging, client engagement, and community outreach reflect the values of stewardship, sustainability, and connection to the natural world. He believes that effective communication is not just about sharing information—it’s about building understanding, trust, and lasting relationships.
