I grew up visiting our Hungarian family vineyard in the summertimes. My family also had a pumpkin patch and Christmas tree business. I loved the Christmas trees and have sold them every season for the past twenty years. In my tumultuous teenage years, I became deeply involved in plant science because I found peace within plants and flowers.
I earned my B.S. in Agriculture and Environmental Plant Science at Cal Poly SLO, where I wrestled Division 1. I earned a full athletic scholarship and the 2018 Coaches Award for being an exceptional student-athlete. Also while in college, I worked three years at the campus arboretum cultivating holiday poinsettias in the fall and selling them, along with Christmas trees, of course, at various venues throughout the state. Furthermore, I owned over thirty beehives and sold my honey at the local, famous San Luis Obispo farmers markets. I earned a small academic scholarship for insect ecology and earned three dean’s list honors and a president’s list honor. I even tried to start a recycling company named Mack’s Recycling.
After college, I managed operations at Devil Mountain Wholesale Nursery, a multiple location, large-scale nursery business spread throughout the west coast with one of the largest plant inventories on the market. I played a key role in establishing their new location in Morgan Hill from 2018 until mid-2020. I was their qualified applicator and responsible person for all pesticide related activities (which were mostly conducted on weekends). During the weekdays, I drove box trucks, sold plants, managed a crew of over 25 people, oversaw will-call, took inventories, and built critical nursery infrastructure.
During the pandemic, I used my time to earn professional certifications and pursue my passion as a certified arborist and pest control advisor. Today, I bring technical expertise, education, and hands-on field experience to every case. I founded California Ecology Arborists between 2022 and 2024, starting small and working my way up to higher level tree consulting. I earned my Registered Consulting Arborist certification in 2025. I earned my Registered Consulting Arborist credential in 2025, further solidifying that my professional qualifications match the depth of my hands-on experience and technical expertise in aboriculture.

Jacob Goldin brings a versatile background in business strategy, client development, and operational leadership to CalEco Arborists. With over six years of experience in consulting, private equity research, and behavioral health operations, Jacob has a proven track record of driving sustainable growth through data-driven strategy and stakeholder engagement.
Raised in Los Angeles but shaped by summers spent on a small island off the coast of Maine, Jacob developed an early and lasting appreciation for rural landscapes and natural environments. A lifelong outdoorsman, he credits those formative experiences with instilling his belief that the way we care for trees, land, and open space is deeply tied to community health and resilience.
Jacob earned his B.A. in Philosophy from UCLA, graduating magna cum laude with a focus on logic, ethics, and critical thinking. His academic foundation reflects a broader passion for sustainability and systems thinking—an outlook he brings to every aspect of his work. At CalEco Arborists, Jacob supports operations, outreach, and organizational strategy with the goal of connecting expert arboricultural services to the communities and legal professionals who need them most. He is especially passionate about bringing ecological awareness to urban environments and helping others recognize the value of trees—not only as natural assets, but as essential infrastructure. Through his role, Jacob seeks to bridge the gap between science, strategy, and stewardship.

Brian Chang’s journey is grounded in both academic insight and lived experience. He holds degrees in Sociology and Marketing, earning his Marketing degree from James Cook University Singapore with additional credits and a storytelling credential from the Royal Melbourne Institute of Technology. This foundation in social understanding, strategy, and narrative skill allows him to craft content and outreach strategies that connect communities, ideas, and audiences in meaningful ways.
His connection to the natural world has been equally formative. From reforesting degraded lands in Costa Rica to hands-on efforts to repopulate leatherback sea turtles, Brian’s conservation work reflects a lifelong commitment to protecting people, wildlife, and the environments we share. He lived for three years immersed in Malaysia’s ancient jungles and spent time in Melbourne, experiences that deepened his appreciation for biodiversity, natural beauty, and sustainable living.
Beyond conservation, Brian has supported community welfare initiatives in Singapore, assisting underserved populations including the elderly and economically disadvantaged. He also has professional experience as an optician, where he cultivated precision and client care.
At CalEco Arborists, Brian applies his combined background to ensure the company’s messaging, client engagement, and community outreach reflect the values of stewardship, sustainability, and connection to the natural world. He believes that effective communication is not just about sharing information—it’s about building understanding, trust, and lasting relationships.
